Since I play EvE I have tried many, many different things. Sometimes I am more of a carebear, on other days I kill the carebear on my mind and try to be different.
Months and years ago I happened to experience guys "acting like pirates" in the way the OP assumes them to be - reckless fools and idiots wasting other gamers' times and taking the joy out of EvE. Yes, and I was hating and rambling about just as simple minded. Sry guys, back then it was meant as an offence, today I apoligze for those childish reactions back then.
Because I turned around an flew together with different smaller or bigger corps, a few alliances as well (all about PvP, nullsec, POS stuff, whatever) in order to experience other sides of EvE. And what I realized there is quite simple:
The mean, ugly, dirty scumbag of a pirat, the OP wants us to believe they are, is only one of few - a minority, nothing else. Dragging any conclusion out of those few limited minions of stupidity is just insane and a perfect mirror image of the reduced and limited perspectives the OP herself.
The majority of "pirates" or "pvp-ers" is very different. Someone else already mentioned it: On the combat they may be quite "a challenge", but on a convo afterwards they drag you on an eye-to-eye level and they chatter with you. Now, if you are ****ed and behave like a moron, the consequences are logical; but if you may be ****ed but are willing to start a serious convo, the pirate or pvp-er really gives you hints, a nice chatter and maybe even an invite to more fascinating aspects of this game. I've seen all variations about this, and most of the time the pirate seems to be an as***le, this is just the echo, ar may I say so, "butterfly-effect" to what the gunned down was giving him in the first place. And believe it or not: most scumbags and idiots are careless wonnabes who flame about pirates and think they are the only ones who really understood the game of EvE ...
So, dear OP and likeminded, get your pills and annoy other people.
